First, I will analyze how the Japanese anime industry has successfully developed over the past 20 years, focusing on various media such as video streaming, movies, and home video. Second, I will explain the process of anime production and the current working environment of animators, particularly the challenges they face. Third, I will discuss the various business models of anime production, including the advertising business model, the production committee system, the streaming service company-funded model, and the anime production-funded model. From the perspective of industrial structure and contract practices, the Japanese anime business will be analyzed and explored with various examples.
Graduated from Tokyo Gakugei University, completed LL.M. programs at Franklin Pierce Law Center and the University of Washington School of Law, and completed doctoral coursework in the Graduate School of Law at Waseda University (Doctor of Laws). After working as a high school teacher and at music publishers Nippon Ongaku Shuppansha, Kitty Music, PolyGram Music Japan, and Septima Lei, and serving as a specially appointed professor at the Graduate School of Law at Hokkaido University, currently a professor in the Faculty of Law at Toyo University.
