In this lecture, you will learn the basic concepts of Japanese honorific expressions and their appropriate use in business situations. By learning from the basics, you can improve your skills in using language and expressions that show respect and consideration in dialogue and email exchanges according to the position and situation of the other party.

Graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Osaka University and received a Ph.D. in Language and Culture Studies from Osaka University of Foreign Studies (now Osaka University) in 2007. Served as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Letters, Osaka University, a lecturer at Kobe University of Mercantile Marine, and a professor at the International Student Center of Kobe University (now the Global Education Center) before assuming the current position in 2017. Professor Takanashi has been involved in the creation of many Japanese textbooks and grammar guides for teachers, including "Japanese Grammar Handbook," "Minna no Nihongo Intermediate Level," and "Modern Japanese Grammar," and has published valuable insights in the fields of Japanese grammar and Japanese language education.
